What If: Hillary Wins The Popular Vote

What If: Hillary Wins The Popular Vote

By just about anybody's estimates, Barack Obama appears to have won the delegate vote heading into the national convention.

There are, however, those pesky superdelegates to deal with, which could turn the nomination to Hillary Clinton.

The common thinking right now is Clinton can't get enough superdelegates - basically, they aren't going to push her over the top if Obama has the most delegates before counting the supers.

But what if Hillary went all out and won the popular vote - not the delegate vote? Could superdelegates be persuaded to cast ballots for Hillary because she won the popular vote?

Interesting question, and one the Politico tries to tackle. But it's a uphill battle - Hillary is roughly 700,000 votes behind in the popular vote.
