Will Oprah Have Palin On Her Show?

Maybe, maybe not, depending on who you believe.

It started today with a story out of the Drudge Report over whether Oprah would have GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin on her show. The Drudge story said Oprah's staff was "sharply divided" over whether to invite Palin.

Here's a response that just moved from Oprah: "The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over."

This would be pretty interesting. Oprah has campaigned quite extensively for Barack Obama. He was on her show before clinching the Democratic presidential nomination. Yet having the first GOP vice presidential candidate on would also seem to be pretty historic, and the Nielson numbers would soar.

Maybe Oprah just doesn't want to do anything that might harm her candidate.
